Car Buff

I have too many interests to enumerate. However, when I went to college, the two things I was interested in going into was either automotive design or robotics. The main things that discouraged me from automotive design was the small number of available positions as automotive designers and the fact that the beautiful works of art we know as concept cars are almost all but lost when the production car finally rolls off the assembly line. I am excited about Local Motors; I see Local Motors as the best shot that a good concept has to actually make it to development. I think that Local Motors is what America needs. We don't need to bail out "the big three" automotive companies - we need to not HAVE a "Big three". What America needs is the "Tiny twenty-seven", where there is competition in the market and vehicles can actually be made to target a market, rather than the masses.

B.S. in Computer Science from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge Before the Computer Science degree, I was in the Architecture program at LSU and took some design courses that I found extremely interesting.

I have no professional experience designing, fixing or building cars. I like cars a lot, however, and have made repairs or modifications as needed to keep my cars, as well as those of family and friends, running. I have had a lot of experience driving a variety of vehicles, from my stepfather's tractor, to delivery vans, to different cars as a private investigator. Much of what I have seen leads me to think that vehicles should be "purpose-built," like fire engines or ambulances are. A good example is what carbonmotors is doing for police cars now. Other good examples are cars from the movies: the Batmobile, Ecto-1... vehicles that were built with their uses - and users - in mind. This is what I see happening at Local Motors. This is what I want to be a part of.

New Beetle, but modified...

I like the New Beetle. Its canopy is roomy, giving it a surprisingly open feel. Its lines pay tribute to one of the historically most popular cars on the planet. It has the power to recall childhood memories in passer-bys, whether it be Herbie or BumbleBee, and can incite violence in small children. What could be better?
