Follow these three steps to become an owner:
Save your spot. When you buy a number, you are reserving a place in line to buy and build your Rally Fighter. When the Rally Fighter Build Experience is available, Local Motors will call the owners of each "number" in numerical order to lock in their build date. First-come, first-serve.
When you buy a Rally Fighter, you are also purchasing the Build Experience. Whether you are a long-time car builder, or a novice, you will work alongside a Local Motors expert to build your Rally Fighter. This experience can be had in two short weekends, and you can read more details here.
Gain "Buyer" status within the Local Motors community.
The Rally Fighter will be built in limited production. 2000 serialized numbers of this edition are for sale. Numbers are assigned (in increasing numerical order) upon receipt of your $99 payment. Note: Numbered Vehicle production will commence during the summer of 2010.
The first Rally Fighter builds will take place at Local Motors first micro factory in Phoenix, Arizona.
Numbers are fully transferable and fully refundable up until step 2.
When your number is called, you can then lock-in your build date by paying the $5,000 deposit for your Rally Fighter. (Notes 2 & 3)
We will commence ordering your parts and planning for your build
You will also start designing your custom 'skin' (vinyl wrap) either on your own or with the LM communities help
(Note 2: "lock-in" is subject to certain part availability which can cause a build-date to be delayed. We will let you know immediately and you will be able to track electronically, the status of your build-date.)
Get excited. After you pay the remaining balance, you will join the experts at Local Motors to build your Rally Fighter.
Then, drive your Rally Fighter home.

Custom “Skins” Competitions
There are not model years nor trim levels for the Rally Fighter; each is built to the same standard. The major exception to this non-variation is the skin. The "skin", or vinyl wrap, for your Rally Fighter is the only thing that you can choose or customize during production. In fact, if you would like, you will be able to host a "Custom Car Skin" competition through our website and challenge designers to create a vinyl wrap with graphics to your specifications. You post the prize amount, the community delivers options, you pick the winner. We'll help show you how "Custom Car Skins" works and help you create a "mood" board to convey your desires. Post Production Modifications Encouraged
The Rally Fighter data is available and "opensource" click here to go to the technical specification page to download chassis data. This allows the community and partner companies to make well fitting, high quality after production products specifically for the Rally Fighter.
You can customize your Rally Fighter after you build it. For example, some Rally Fighter owners make the interior completely luxurious, while others want their Rally Fighter Baja-ready, sans glass. We will be selling more and more items in the web "pro shop" throughout the year.
