Green Apple
Use alternative energy.sorry, this is not the same color as my differents checkup....This one is more adapted to a very big city!
Thoughts...
yes please remove the windmills. it is scientifically impossible for them to be a net energy gain. they definitely *will* be an energy drain. pretty basic stuff guys. this is the same as running a fan on a sailboat. it just dont work.
I like the design overall, but the wind generation idea is seriously flawed. The amount of drag created by the blades would either increase the drag on the whole vehicle, or would capture only a miniscule amount of power. Better to design for low aerodrag, than to capture the wind. There are some really cool ideas for decreasing drag...see www.fastskinz.com. Beyond that go with regenerative braking and regenerative suspensions
This is an amazing design. I have long thought that a windmill type generator could be used to help power an ev, in addition to regenerative braking and such. The only thing that would keep me from purchasing one is that it is a 3 seater and I have a family of four but otherwise this is fantastic. Keep on dreaming like this man!
hmm perhaps the windmills could charge the A123 systems Hymotion 5KW battery. I hope the windmill idea works without having too much of an adverse effect on the drag and overall driving experience
the integrated windmills would add unneccisary wind friction when moving. Perhaps it would be better for regenerative Breaking?
Takes me back to Hot Wheel days. Build it & they will come! Look how well the Mini has done. Would be FUN to drive!
Not to be a kiljoy but wind powered concept most definitely will not work. Nice sketches though.
I was wondering about the energy production as well. I am not completely assured that it _wouldn't_ work, either. I'd need to see the drag equation calculated for that.
you do realize any energy extracted through use of integrated windmills would be a net energy sink, right?
congrats, but I am more hesitant about the energy. I get the idea of a wind car would be awesome no doubt, but how would you get started? and how would start?
Congs with your first place ! You really deserve it with this strong design and presentaion
That is certainly the best in competition! I have probably missed the beauty of it while reviewing and voting. I take my hat off and acknowledge defeat:))) Good luck!
congrats on the win, with your unique looking electric car. its surely is a nice shape, and so what if not everything is proportional or defined, what matters is who laughs last on the winners podium :)
thank you everybody!!!It's true that it was tight!!sincerely, LR you have motivated me when you post your entry. I though I had yo work very hard after that. But 0,006 difference is nothing... Yet I'm so happy now!!!! Wish you the best everybody!!!!
Congratulations Julien. A hard fought battle of great competitors, and the Green Apple has emerged the winner. Well done.
I really like your concept’s style. Very nice sketches and final renderings of a distinctive and aggressive design. Nice layout on your board, too, but I think a “headline” would help. We weren’t told the weight of the battery, but if it is heavy, mounting it up high would raise the car’s center of gravity and negatively affect handling. Nice job.
Really great work, and I love this concept. I remember seeing it in checkup, and really enjoying your sketches. Your pencil work is superb, and I really like the concepts! Great job!
bonsoire elips et merci pour votre comments mais il te faut voire bien les dimentions et cette voiture est une voiture de simple par contre moi j'aime bien votre travail et j'ai voté bien pour votre projet merci
Wind energy 4 a car...a novel idea! I like how you concealed the turbines within the body rather than mounting them outside the body (which would have given it the look of one those weird 'flying cars'). Bravo!
Shame your getting this heat for the name, but rogers is right that names and associations tend to stick. I like the name because of what I assumed was the intention, a vehicle to transcend the "Big Apple" into a "Green Apple"; a play on energy conservation and being "green" in general. I quite like the intention, and the design - exciting and practical for the circumstance. A good competitor for the mini's, a little more NYC aggression and more futuristic style as opposed to the mini's retro vibe - def more NYC in my opinion. All in all, well done. I hope you can keep the essence of the name.
Definitely a nice entry, using the wind energy is nice. I would have seen some fans, though.
for all those which hesitate, here the concept green APPLE… in green!!! And other variations with floral graphics. Maybe I'm negligent with final colors of my cars, sorry!!! As graphism, this is to the final customer to make a choise among that availables. But it's true that concept cars get one color. Is my car a concept car?I think yes, so I'm in my wrong. Hope this could help me!!!! :)
To me this car is the best entry. When I heard about Manhattan Motors I was imagining a car like this in my mind.
This is excellent. Definitely one of my favorites. The door is complex, and perhaps unnecessarily so, if we were going to build this. Overall the shape is dynamite. What are you thoughts for rear visibility? I disagree with your assessment of color. IMO, you will fight an uphill battle with the name and color choice. Know that green is a tough color, but colors that you launch an idea with tend to stick. So if it is going to be blue then I would change the name, or leave the name (which is great) and try to work in green. Otherwise, it is most enjoyable to look at, and the wind generation idea is intriguing.
As I said, I removed green color, too bad integration in a grey city like NYC. Blue is a more consensual one,but in my opinion, color as body graphisms are just a part of the customized wanted by the final customer. So it's not the more important in my concepts, have a better look to the body shape, and the concept of course. GREEN APPLE is just a play with "big apple".
