Competition Description

Adventure Team Motors Competition

THE ADVENTURE

The excitement builds as the group approaches a remote site, surrounded by a rugged, beautiful landscape. The team has brought all the gear they'll need for a week of adventure: Technical equipment that will enable them to have fun and stay alive through extreme activities and conditions.

These adventurers ride thunderheads at Mavericks, bivy on El Cap and drill ice walls, traverse Denali's technical ridgelines, and paddle Borneo's class five rapids. They can do extreme activities because they put in the hard work, training for years to become experts. They are one with their surroundings and respect the landscape they confront.

Laird Hamilton rides the biggest waves, Reinhold Messner climbed the highest peaks without oxygen, and Shackleton braved the Antarctic, all in a sense of adventure and pursuit of the unattained. The Team must have a mobile site, ready to provide shelter and protect equipment, so they can take on any challenge.

VEHICLE INSPIRATION

An Adventure vehicle is at one with its surroundings. Laird's Microbus says it all about surf culture. Shackleton's Endurance proved the doubters wrong in a harsh environment. Even race teams need their trailers to set up for a weekend of speed.

Some of the best adventure vehicles were originally produced for military pursuits. The Pinzgauer transporter, Bradley fighting vehicle, Mercedes Unimog, and AAV all take the team to its task. Some of these vehicles even look like the landscape where they go to work.

Vehicles meant for adventure capture the spirit of the group. The Volkswagen Transporter became an icon among surfers for not only it's functionality but also its distinctive style and personality. What would an adventure vehicle for rock climbers look like? Would it have surfaces to boulder on? What about a vehicle for guys going to Moab with their off-road bikes and ATV's? Do they want to practice jumps using their Adventure vehicle as a ramp? What about a Scuba diving approach vehicle? Is it amphibious or a beach hangout?

Make your own Adventure.
