Mike Reiter

Fabricator

Mike was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He always had a passion for cars, especially anything old and custom, or 4 wheel drive and lifted. Shortly after high school he bought his first street rod, a 1937 Dodge D5 sedan. He began to learn how to weld and fabricate on his dodge with less than remarkable results.  He ended up paying a professional to work on his car for less than professional work.  Mike spent a few years in college before switching directions and following his dream to build and work on cars.  Mike quit his job and moved from Tucson to Laramie, Wy to study welding and fabrication at Wyotech.  After graduation, he moved to the Phoenix area and got a job building primarily drag race car chassis.  This job greatly expanded his fabricating skills, as well as teaching his manual machine work.  Unfortunately, when the economy crashed, he was laid off.  Fortunately, he was only out of work a few weeks before being hired on at Local Motors.  While at Local Motor Mike has helped construct the chassis jig, and many of the component jigs.  He has a hand in building every chassis out of the jig. That’s it–the rest is history!
